Educating the Whole Child.

Bristlecone Pine Tree Classroom

7TH & 8TH GRADE Math

Our 7th and 8th grade curriculum is exciting and active!  On a daily basis, students create one-on-one mentoring relationships with their teachers, participate in social and emotional learning, actively engage in the curriculum through movement and interpersonal skills, and close gaps in their learning. We get outside regularly and find ways to connect students to their school community, their city and county communities and even further into their state community.

a little about me

Email >

My name is Jeff Johnson and I will be your teacher this year. I look forward to working with you as we learn math together.  I have been teaching for 24 years and have had numerous experiences teaching students from Kindergarten to college. I expect this year to be great for all of us as we learn new things!  Many students have mixed feelings about math - ranging from hatred to love (and everything in between).

I have many passions in addition to math. I enjoy fly fishing (a former college student got me into this); sports such as tennis, basketball, baseball, pickleball, and racquetball; and other hobbies which include camping and hunting. I am also an adjunct Math and Portuguese professor at WSU. I love languages as much as math! In addition, I occasionally volunteer at the Weber County Sports Shooting Complex so if you have never had a chance to shoot at targets, come on by! My biggest passion, however, is my family. I have a beautiful wife and eight amazing children ranging in age from 28 to 11. Most of them even like math, although their dad made them work to understand it. My oldest  daughter was also a math teacher until she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. Currently, I have one son and two  daughters who are married. I also have 2 grandsons – 5 and 2 years of age respectively, and 1 more on the way! I hope there will be many more grandchildren in the future. My other children are busy with school and jobs – one is in high school, one just graduated, and one is in elementary.  My oldest has his own business (Fortressprecision.com) and is earning his MBA at Weber – graduating in a few weeks!

All of us are dealing with life “as a student in school” or “as a person in life”. Communication and understanding are KEYS to success.  I will communicate with you by email and school phone.  I do my best to listen to students and parents about their needs, but I am not a pushover so COMMUNICATE with me if there are life events of which I need to be aware. My job is to be your teacher and your job is to be a great student! I hope this helps you get to know me a bit better on a personal level. Cheers!
