KINDERGARTEN
In Kindergarten at Greenwood Charter School we focus on educating the whole child through centers, play, and hands on learning. For Math and Reading we follow the Utah Common Core State Standards. We use Illustrative Math, Utah State SEEd Stories, and the Reading Horizons Curriculum. We also use the EL curriculum in Kindergarten where we focus on Toys and Play, Weather, and Trees. We practice mindfulness, movement breaks, and social emotional building. Kindergarten is a great place to be!

a little about me
Greetings!! My name is Mayra Ruiz. I have been in the classroom many years! I have worked with all grades and ages. My favorite has always been the younger grades. Littles have this contagious energy that brightens my day. I have had extensive training in early childhood education as well as SPED within the six districts I have worked for stateside and DODEA (Department of Defense Education Activity) while living overseas in Japan. We are an active duty family for the US Air force. My husband has been serving for over 25 years so we have moved quite a bit and had the wonderful opportunity to travel some beautiful countries and experienced many cultures.
